La Habra’s Season Rests On This Week’s Play
Friday, 14 May 2010

ImageLa Habra and Sunny Hills went 9 innings in a pitchers’ duel with neither team abole to score, although many La Habra fans and coaches will insist Maleen Esparza won the game with a home run in the 8th. The ump insisted the ball bounced on the Sunny Hills outfielder first. The fate in charge of softball took not and in the 10th inning Esparza was once again on second, when Dayna Douglas smashed a pitch for a double.  Game over 1-0. And bring on Fullerton which struggled to beat Sonora 6-5.

Sunny HIlls faces Buena Park May 13 and will undoubtedly be 8-2. La Habra is now 7-2 and Fullerton is 8-1. Talk about a tough race to CIF.

ImageThe second round La Habra/Sonora softball game found Tatiana Metchkoff on the mound for the Raiders as Michelle McNally prepared for surgery to repair her knee. It became a pitcher’s duel between Metchkoff and Kayla Klein with both teams playing basically flawless defense. However, no defense could stop the home run Maleena Esparza hit which bounced off a car parked on Monte Vista.

Sonora, currently 2-6, will finish the season this week, while La Habra at 6-2 faces first Sunny Hills on Tuesday and then Fullerton on Thursday who are both 7-1 having split their own series. The results of those games will determine where La Habra ends up.
